E3 2014 Rumors: Game Predictions, Schedule And Coverage
Ahead of the upcoming E3 2014, aka 2014 Electronic Entertainment Expo, internet forums and game magazines are abuzz with game predictions and rumors surrounding game release schedules andannouncements from game developers and publishers exhibiting at the event.
At E3 2014, departing somewhat from its traditional focus on technology, hardware takes a step back in favor of new software and game releases.
Sony and Microsoft made a big splash last year in the home entertainment category when they released their respective flagship consoles, the PS4 and Xbox One.
Sony has a number of high-profile announcements lined up at E3 2014, including news and possible interactions with “The Order: 1886” and “Uncharted 4.” On the hardware side, they are alsobelieved to give an update on the virtual reality headset, dubbed “Morpheus.”
The Japanese tech giant is also rumored to release a new PS4 & PS Vita bundle, called the “Ultimate Player Edition,” after Amazon France leaked details on a PS Vita Slim product page.
Microsoft, whose Xbox One sales lately struggles to keep up with PS4 console sales, announced in May they are dropping the Kinect-requirement for its flagship console, at the same time cutting the price by $100.
At E3 2014, Microsoft are expected to provide a news update on some of its exclusive games, most prominently “Halo 5: Guardians” which is slated for a 2015 fall release.
Nintendo, whose Wii U is dwarfed by the more popular consoles from Sony and Microsoft, are creating some major buzz with its “Mario Kart 8” and “Super Smash Bros” exclusive titles for the Nintendo Wii U. Rumors about a new “Zelda” game release and major release on Nintendo 3DS is also expected.
E3 2014 takes place this week June 10-12 in Los Angeles, Cali. A schedule of important press conferences and additional coverage is available at the E3 Expo website.
